Dear Peanut – here we are, 365 days and 4 teeth in the books. You’ve been taking a few steps by yourself and of course on the day of your birthday you took the most! You might be just one year, but you know what you want. You like to do things your own way and you are quite vocal when you don’t like something.

12 MONTHS
EATS
For the most part, you eat anything we eat. You are loving rice, noodles, sweet potatoes, avocado, strawberries, and blueberries. Anything else is a hit or miss. Even though you are eating more solids now, we continue to nurse whenever you want and it’s ok because I am cherishing those solo moments with you.
ON THE MOVE!
At 12 months, you are a crawling master! You are constantly moving and crawling at full speed everywhere. You’ve figured out how to walk and are slowly gaining confidence to do it by yourself. On the day of your birthday you took the most steps on your own!
BIRTHDAY MEMORIES
Your actual birthday fell on a Wednesday. We stayed home and did a little thing between the 4 of us.
We ordered takeout and got you a cake from Lark Cake Shop for you to go at it. We were ready for you to get messy and crazy but out of all days you decided you did not want to get dirty.
But… on your birthday you must end with cake on your face. (It’s a family tradition) #sorrynotsorry
BIRTHDAY PARTY
For your first birthday party we had a theme and ideas all planned out, but of course due to COVID, we couldn’t throw you the party we initially planned for. Instead, we threw you a mini party at the park with our closest friends and made the best out of it.
We picked up food and pastries from Portos and I made you a Funfetti Smash Cake with Vanilla Frosting. Since we were celebrating Luna’s 7th birthday too, I made her a couple of Peanut Butter Pupcakes.
Unlike Luna who devoured her pupcakes in one breath, you did not want anything to do with the cake and there was nothing we could do about it. One of the things I’ve learned as a mom is that things don’t always turned out as planned yet you make the best of it.
The last year has been a wild journey but I wouldn’t change it for anything. I love you so much my little one year old.
happy birthday lucas ♥️
