Dear Peanut – 90 days in and you have officially graduated from the newborn stage. Time flies! Currently your favorite pastimes are laying on Mom and Dad’s chest or playing on your activity mat. You love reaching for the toys above, and also enjoy being rocked to sleep.

EAT
You are double your birth weight, buddy! At your doc’s appointment you measured to be in the 80-90% percentile in both height and weight, which means you are healthy and strong, and our breastfeeding journey is well on track. Yay!
SLEEP
We stopped swaddling you with your arms down because you would somehow get your arms out and wake up crying bloody murder EVERY.SINGLE.TIME!! Instead we switched to the Love To Dream swaddle and you’ve been sleeping longer stretches… but still not through the night.
At your 2 month appointment, your doctor recommended us to start sleep training you using the cry it out (CIO) method. At first we thought you were too young, but then we started doing some research and asking around and many agreed this was the time to start. Plus we were very desperate and if the doctor recommended it… why not, right? So we jumped right on board and did it the next day.
The first night was horrible and one of the hardest things I’ve had to endure. You cried and cried and cried. To be honest, I don’t think you slept much that first night. However, the next two nights were MUCH better. On the second night, you cried for 30-45 mins, fell asleep, woke up a couple hours later, cried for another 20-30 minutes, and then fell asleep until 6am when we came to wake you. The third night was magical. It took you less than 30 mins to fall asleep and you only woke up once through the night. We thought we had done it. We were successful in sleep training. Little did we know we were SO WRONG. On the fifth day, we jumped on a plane to China and it all went downhill. In hindsight, our timing was the worst.
MILESTONES
roll over
The first time you did it at your doctor’s appointment. The second time you did it at home… twice. None of those times was I able to get it on video… and of course you haven’t done it again since.
little coos & sounds
You started making little sounds here and there, and they were the cutest. Lately, you’ve turned those little sounds into full on talks and oh boy you do like to talk, especially when you are spoken in Chinese.
smiles
You are all smiles these days! As soon as we make eye contact with you, you burst into the biggest toothless grin. I say you are going to have the same charming smile as your Dad.
FAVORITE MEMORIES
FIRST PLANE RIDE
You went on your first flight and you were such a CHAMP!! You nursed and slept the entire way to China and only cried once because you were hungry and I was trying to time your feed with landing.
MEETING ABU + AYA
They waited so long to meet you and hold you! They wouldn’t let you go. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I got to hold you much while we were in China lol
RED ENVELOPES
You received so many red envelopes from family and friends! Right now they don’t mean much to you, but this is a Chinese tradition you will love once you are older and understand what’s inside those red envelopes.
going swimming
This was so much fun! We took you to your first swim lesson and you were a natural. As soon as they put you in the water you knew exactly what to do.
